ILTC: Landmarks on the Path of Success

 

ILTC originated from the non-governmental organization Open World House, supported by the Soros Foundation. In 1994 a language school was opened for the purposes of our country’s integration into the international community and for the development of Moldova’s educational system. During the first year of work 887 students studied at the school, thanks to 4 American teachers.

 

1995 - an important meeting took place between the school’s director, Victoria Galiy and the founder of the Open Society Institute George Soros.

 

1996 - the school opened its doors to younger students so that even from the early age of 5-6 children had an opportunity to enjoy English language studies.

 

1997 - a new TOEFL preparation course was introduced. The number of students doubled compared to the first year of work. The first international wedding took place at the school. It was followed by 3 more international marriages.

 

1998 - due to reorganization, the school became a part of the educational center ProDidactica. Its mission was to implement educational reforms in Moldova.

 

2000 - the school opened the first English teenage group. At the same time German language teaching began. Diane Larson Freeman – a widely recognized linguist and the author of the well known book “Grammar Dimensions” visited the school and organized trainings for teachers’ professional development.

 

2001 - the school became an independent organization - International Language Training Center.

 

2002 - In the autumn the school moved into a new building with 10 classrooms and an audio – video laboratory.

 

2003 - the first Summer Camp for kids started.

 

2004 - The school offered the first Romanian language course. On October 1 ILTC celebrated its tenth anniversary.

 

2005 - the school launched a wide range of teacher training programs including SIT TESOL, CELTA, IH CERTIFICATES.

 

2007 - following new tendencies in English language teaching, ILTC adopted a unique system of grades – the Common European Framework of Reference, and starting from January all the certificates at ILTC reflect the students’ command of a foreign language according to European standards. Therefore, ILTC students can confirm their knowledge in European countries.

 

2008 - the school opened French, Italian and Spanish groups as well as a Business English course that was very popular with students. There were recorded the first audio CDs. They gained popularity among The Star Factory participants during their language training sessions. ILTC crossed the historic threshold of having 5000 students per year.

 

2009 - a new school building was completed. New opportunities and classrooms appeared together with bright prospects.

 

2010 - ILTC won one of the European Council tenders for teaching English to the members of the Moldovan Parliament and the Higher Magistrates’ Council. An electronic library containing audio and video materials for different levels and international exams was started. ILTC took an active part in The Star Factory participants’ language training.

 

2011 - The school continued developing and it conquered a new professional peak by creating new textbooks for intermediate levels and audio books in English for ILTC students.

 

2012 - For the first time in Moldova and at ILTC an international certification course for teachers was held. As a result, six teachers of the center received an international TESOL certification from IH Kharkiv.

 

2013 - ILTC participated in the social charity project “Christmas Caravan” organized in support of the girls from boarding school in Hancesti. On December 26, with the help of our students, ILTC provided the school with material support such as sweets, toys, sleighs and technical equipment. On the eve of Christmas holidays ILTC brought the magic of the winter fairy tale into the children’s hearts.

 

2014 - This year, two professional development seminars on “Classroom management” and “Lesson Planning” were conducted by an internationally qualified instructor Andrey Ruzhinsky, who is also a representative of the International House from Haricov. Apart from that, the whole team of ILTC participated in the professional training on “Client Orientation” conducted by the representative of the School of Business Communications – Olga Nisenboim.

 

2015 - In 2015 ILTC offered the opportunity to its teacher to participate in a national META Conference for Teachers of English as well as the international conferences such as TESOL Conference, IATEFL Conference, IH Barcelona Conference. As a result, ILTC teachers accumulated new knowledge and shared the new ideas with the colleagues within the center.

 

2016 - In 2016 another international training on “Teaching English to Young Learners” was conducted by the International House. All participant of the training received an international certificate from the IH World Organization.

 

2017 - On the occasion of its 22nd anniversary ILTC participated in a big charity projects organized in collaboration with hospice “ANGELUS”. Over 16000 lei collected from the sale of the tickets were passed to “Angelus Moldova” to assist persons in need. In November 2017 ILTC took part in the social project Verde.md. The goal of the project was to restore green areas in Chisinau which were severely damaged by abnormal weather conditions on April 21, 2017.

Price List, 2017-2018

General English / German/ Romanian/ Spanish/ Russian/ Italian/ Teenagers / Kids

The course lasts for 7.5 weeks, the lessons are held 3 times a week, each lesson last for 120 min, which is 44 astronomical hours.
General English:

  • Morning hours (8:30, 10:45, )
    €135 = 44 hours per session
  • Evening hours (16:30, 18:45)
    €149 = 44 hours per session

Teenagers – € 126 = 33 hours (the lesson lasts for 1.5 hours)

Kids – € 96 = 22 hours (the lesson lasts for 1 hour)

Romanian - € 114 = 44 hours per session
German – € 125 = 44 hours per session
Italian - € 125 = 44 hours per session
Russian - € 125 = 44 hours per session
Spanish - € 125 = 44 hours per session

Specialized Course The course lasts for 7.5 weeks, the lessons are held 3 times a week, each lesson lasts for 120 min . Preparation courses for IELTS, Cambridge, TOEFL, Business English - € 160 = 44 hours

Teacher Training = 500 MDL

Private lessons (any language):

  • € 16 - 1 student (60 min)
