General English is the most popular language programme at ILTC. Despite the fact that this programme requires considerable time investment, it is still considered the most efficient way to enhance your language skills.
English is rightly recognised as the international language. Nowadays 375 mln people in the world speak English as a mother tongue; in 75 countries with the population over 2 billion people English is the official language of communication. Thinking of that it is not surprising at all that there are more and more people worldwide trying to master English. Another argument in favour of English popularity is that 80% of all information in the world is recorded and stored in English.
We at ILTC will dispel the lingering language myths that learning a language is hard and boring. Learning English at ILTC is easy, efficient and enjoyable!
Aims of General English programme
The general aim of the programme is to develop students' ability to use English accurately, appropriately, effectively and fluently for oral and written communication in various situations.
Specific objectives of General English programme:
· to overcome the language barrier and enable students to use English in day to day situations, as well as enable students to pronounce words and phrases accurately;
· to enrich students' active vocabulary;
· to develop students' ability to listen to and understand what has been communicated;
· to enhance students' understanding of grammatical concepts and to develop their ability to apply grammar rules in communicative situations;
· to enable students to read and understand a range of reading materials in English on a variety of academic and general topics;
· to improve students' English language proficiency.
Results awaited:
After successfully completing the full programme ILTC students will be able to:
· speak English appropriately in academic and social situations;
· use English for social and business correspondence;
· read and understand passages in English (from various sources);
· use English in everyday situations for common communicative functions.
Learning process:
The learning process is highly practical, when students are encouraged to actively use and speak English in various case studies and role games, dialogues, discussions, presentations, pair and group work, listening and writing tasks, applying grammar rules in communicative situations.
Groups of 6-15 participants are formed based on the results of oral and written proficiency tests, which allow to determine the level of English accurately.
